DESIGN - PREPROFESSIONAL ADVISING

PREPROFESSIONAL ADVISING OFFICE

PPA team came up with 3 things we would like the campus-wide advising community to know about our office as follows.

- We do not advise Pre-Nursing students
- Starting this fall (2015) we will be advising Pre-OT students
- Premed Info Sessions!! We offer Premed Info Sessions twice a month. Please check out our website (www.ppa.utah.edu) to register for the session

DESIGN - FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

AvailabilityFinancial aid counselors are available on a walk-in basis during business hours. Students no longer have to make appointments.

EligibilityStudents should meet with a financial aid counselor prior to dropping, withdrawing, repeating courses or auditing courses as changes schedules could affect a student’s eligibility.

Maximum Time FrameAdvisors should have a general understanding of our Maximum Time Frame Policy, as it refers to AP courses, repeated courses, double or triple majors etc.

UMail: Remind students to check their UMail account as that is the only mechanism that we will communicate with them about their status.

DESIGN - SCHOLARSHIPS OFFICE

SCHOLARSHIPS

Enrollment Status: If students change their enrollment, it might make them ineligible for their scholarship.  Lots of scholarships have specific enrollments requirements and changes to enrollment may have negative impacts.

Leave of Absences: If students are going on a LOA, they should inform either the department, college other entity providing a continuing scholarships.

Scholarship Availability: Sometimes advisors send students to our office and have given them high hopes that they will find funding opportunities here. It is important to know that the majority of our scholarships are for entering freshman and transfer students.  The majority of the scholarships for continuing students rest in departments and colleges.

DESIGN - COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

This office is staffed by an enthusiastic, encouraging, knowledgeable team who work together to assist all students with reaching their goals by utilizing proven tools and exciting new resources both on campus and in the Pharmacy community.

Students can obtain in-depth knowledge regarding the pre-Pharmacy path and PharmD program of study from nearly anyone in this office.

Students will find a warm smile, friendly conversation, safety, and genuine interest in them as individuals and as future Pharmacists when they visit a staff member in this office.

DESIGN - SCHOOL OF BUSINESS - ADVISING & CURRICULUM

Eccles School of Business

Advising
  • Assigned Advisor Model - The Eccles School is committed to offering personalized advising for each student. Undergraduate Advising Services (UAS) assigns students an academic advisor when they declare pre-business or indicate an interest in pursuing a minor. (Please note that when students are admitted to the Accounting major, they are reassigned to Megan Ludlow.)
  • Appointment Scheduling - Students can schedule an advising appointment in person (SFEBB 1120), over the phone (801.581.7853) or online (http://sf.business.utah.edu/appointments).
  • Peer Advisor Walk-In Hours - UAS offers Quick Answer Walk-In Hours, facilitated by our well-trained Peer Advisors. These Walk-In Hours provide students the opportunity to learn about course offerings, major/minor information, the process of applying to and moving through the Eccles School, and generating and reading DARS reports
Please note that our Peer Advisors cannot clear holds or sign-off on graduation.

Curriculum
  •  Transfer Equivalency Guide - UAS maintains an online course equivalency database for domestic and international credit. Students can view previous petitions and decisions, as well as submit equivalency petitions for courses that have not yet been reviewed.
  • Entrepreneurship Major Changes - Starting Fall 2016, the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy will offer a more robust and competitive curriculum. Currently, there is no published information regarding this change (updates to come).
  • Entrepreneurship Minor Changes - Starting Fall 2016, the Entrepreneurship minor will only be available to Eccles School majors. (Please note that the Business minor and Entrepreneurship Certificate will still be available to non-business students.)
